The Director General of Al-Ma‘afer District and Head of the Local Council, paid an official visit to Al-Khiyami Technical Institute as part of the project to transform agriculture in Al-Ma‘afer into climate-smart and sustainable farming. The project is funded by Oxfam and implemented by Assistance for Response and Development (ARD-Y).
During the visit, the handover of greenhouses and the first-ever hydroponic unit in Taiz Governorate took place. The project aims to enhance agricultural technical education by equipping the institute with modern teaching and production tools, in addition to training and preparing eight recent graduates to serve as agricultural extension officers in their communities.
The handover event was attended by: Acting Director of the District Agriculture and Irrigation Office, Dean of Al-Khiyami Technical Institute, ARD-Y’s Field Coordinator and the Representative of the contractor.
