The villages of Al-Quhaifa sub-district in Maqbanah district suffer from a severe shortage of water sources, both surface and artesian, as is the case in the the other sub-districts. This places a heavy burden on families who are forced to travel long distances, exceeding two hours, to fetch water.
Assistance for Response and Development foundation (ARD-Y) did not hesitate to address this issue in partnership with the UN-Habitat and YHF funding to implement the rainwater harvesting systems through the “cash-for-work” mechanism. The mechanism aims to target 25 HHs in Al-Quhaifa sub-district to establish 25 rainwater harvesting tanks.
With the start of the program’s implementation, the journey of hope for change has begun. The rainwater harvesting tanks will contribute to alleviating families’ suffering and providing a source of income.
