Assistance for Response and Development (ARD-Y) delivered the first cash batch of rainwater harvesting tanks for drinking water in Al-Quhifa sub-district of Maqbanah District. Twenty-five beneficiaries benefited from this cash installment, each received $360, representing 20% of the total cost of the rainwater harvesting system, which totaled $1,800 per beneficiary.
The rainwater harvesting systems were dug by the beneficiaries themselves under a cash-for-work mechanism. A specialized engineer provided technical support to the beneficiaries during the excavation process. The remaining project phases, such as construction, plastering, pouring the roof, and installing pipes, will continue under the direct supervision of the project engineer.
With this first cash installment, the rainwater harvesting tanks takes an important step toward providing a safe and clean source of drinking water for beneficiaries in the Al-Quhifa sub-district.
