From Challenging to Success: 120 Farmers Thrive with Support from the Rural Resilience Project (ERRY-III)
Empowering Agriculture in Taiz and Lahj
👨🌾👩🌾 120 farmers in Al Ma’afer District (Taiz Gov.) and Tuban District (Lahj Gov.), including members of Water User Associations, now enjoy improved access to irrigation 💧 via solar-powered systems.
• With a capacity of 18 kilowatts per Solar System ⚡
🤝 Establishing/activating 6 Water User Associations in Al-Ma’afer, Tuban, and Al-Maqatra districts.
🌿 Providing 30 drip irrigation networks, including:
• Mulch
• Shading nets
• a 1-kW generator ⚙️
• Rainwater harvesting tank in the same farm ⛲
🍅 Supporting 400 tomato farmers through:
• Improved seeds adapted to the region
• Fertilizers
• Training on natural fertilizers, neem pesticides, and agricultural guidance 📚
🌟 Success Story
💰 One of the targeted farmers achieved an income of 2.5 million Yemeni riyals from only four pounds, with four pounds left, thanks to the implementation of smart, climate-adapted agricultural practices.
